  • I Love When Things Break

Okay!  Our barbecue just broke today!  It was ten years old and was pretty nasty.  I hated when my husband would pull it out for company—I pushed it around the side and pulled the shade to the window that looked out on it whenever I could.

So now we’re free and clear to go ahead and buy a new one.  But we want to go a step further this time and get a built in grill. I think I’d like something more permanent that’s on a cement pad rather than on our wooden deck.  One of those cal flame grills that can drop right into what my husband builds would be perfect.

It would probably be a lot safer, too.  Last time we barbecued a lot of chicken, my husband loaded the grill up so much that the fat and oils just ran down and dripped onto the deck.  Well, this model sort of always did that, even though we had a catch jar and one of those bbq pads underneath.  But this time it really puddled up…and then it ignited!  It really could have been a disaster considering that we live at the edge of Pike National Forest.  Any other tips for keeping safe while barbecuing in the forest?
